“My Family’s Shop” is a hand-painted, pastel piece that took me over twenty years to complete. This is my Aunt Tess and Uncle Don’s art gallery and shop on Snyder Ave in South Philly. Along with the rest of my big Italian family, we grew up going there often. I have never forgotten the smell of oil paints and the feel of the charcoal pencils and kneaded erasers my aunt would send me home with! The shop and the old folks are long gone now, but this place will always live inside each of us as a very special memory from a very special time.
